If you’re like me, then hey, we just found our common ground! But then again, how would you react if I tell you these slimy things mollusks excrete are actually beneficial.

Allow me to introduce to you SNAIL MUCIN!
SNAIL MUCIN, or snail mucus, is the slimy substance that snails excrete from their bodies. These are the substance that helps snails heal themselves from scratches and wounds they acquire from all the crawling and traveling on surfaces. In the old times, snail mucus was used as medicine for ailments like coughs and most usually for burns.
Snail mucus contains high amounts of protein, elastin and glycolic acids which actually promises a lot of effects on our skin; such as anti-aging effects, Improves our skin elasticity which allows our skin to stretch and return to its original shape and increases collagen production in our skin.
Using snail mucus for our skin gives a soothing, and regenerating effect. And not to mention it’s moisture. You can never go wrong with snail mucus when it comes to moisturizing your skin!
Lovin’, what you’re reading so far? here’s more!
This substance promises us these benefits:

Bottom line is, Snail Mucus are a great source of antioxidants in our skin.
What about over usage then?
There has not been a study of the bad effects on over application of Snail Mucin to your skin. However, snail mucus in cosmetic products have been filtered and drained out some of its water and they are 90% or higher concentrated. So they are so dense in substance and using a lot of product can seriously feel a bit sticky on the skin. I cannot imagine how sticky that can get!
I don’t really know if snails like the stickiness of their bodies or not, but I’m sure they do bring a whole lot of help to us who are taking great care of our skin. And now I might really thank them for that!
[side note, though, did you know Snail Spas are actually popular in countries like Thailand? WOW~!]
