Since beauty brands are constantly offering more and more color options to choose from, we, as women, often found ourselves wondering whether a certain color suits us or not.
You see, to better determine which are the colors that need to be in your wardrobe and makeup draws, is by knowing how to determine your skin undertones.
In general, there are three classifications for undertones. They are:
- Warm Tone
- Cool Tone
- Neutral Tone
Women who have warm undertones usually have a skin that leans towards peachy, golden or even yellow color. But, when a woman has cool undertones this means her skin should appear to be lean pink, red or blue. Finally, women with neutral undertones reflect the most difficult case of determining what color to choose because their skin appears to have a mixture of all of these colors.
Of course, you cannot expect to just look yourself in the mirror and determine whether you have a medium skin tone with red undertones or a deep skin tone with yellow or orange undertones. So, how can you figure out your undertones? Is it really that difficult?
Below you can find some clues that have always been there but you didn’t know they could help you know your undertones so you can then be able to choose the right colors to add to your wardrobe and makeup collection.
1. Check your veins
It’s easy, you just need to check the inside area of your wrists. Try to notice whether our veins appear to be blue or green. If they are blue or slightly purple, then chances are your cool-toned. If they are green, then you most probably are warm-toned. If you’re having trouble telling whether they are blue or green, then chances are you have a neutral undertone.
2. Are you with gold or silver?
Don’t be surprised to ask you this question. It is very important to know which type of jewel suits you best so you can then determine your undertones. You see, if you look better in gold jewelry, then, chances are you’re warmed-toned. But, if silver jewels suit you the most, then you are cool-toned. If both look good on you, then you are neutral-toned.
3. Do you tan or burn?
Another great way to discover whether you’re cool or warm-toned is to see whether sun exposure goldens your skin or burns it. If you tend to burn easily or turn pink, this means you are cool-toned. If not and you tend to tan immediately after sun exposure, this means you’re warm toned.
4. Check your hair and eyes
One of the best ways to find you what your undertone is to check your eye and hair color if you haven’t done that already. If your hair is blonde, light brown and your eyes appear to be gray, blue or green, this means you’re cool-toned. But, if your hair is dark such for example black, dark brown, or chocolate, and your eyes are hazel, brown, black or amber, chances are you’re warm-toned.
5. What are the colors that make you look more beautiful?
The last but not least way to determine your undertone is to see what are the colors that make your body and face appear to be more beautiful. If you notice that colors such as blues, purples, and greens make you look more beautiful, then chances are you’re cool toned. But, if you favor on tones such as reds, yellows, oranges, olive-greens and brown, then you’re warm-toned. If you think there are colors that suit you perfectly from both of these groups, then chances are you are neutral-toned. Lucky you!
